Behind the screen...a little more about me

Hi! For my first post I wanted to tell you a little more about me and the family.  I’m Dana, married to Matt, and we have two boys. As a family we love to spend our time outside.  We eat 75% of our meals on the back porch. We, well mostly husband and kids, enjoy camping.  Alot of weekends you will find us hiking. Every year we have a garden, every year we don’t take care of it, but it still produces enough to have fun. That’s what really matters.

My boys are obsessed with dinosaurs (hence Mamasauras), Wild Kratts, the Avengers, and drinkable yogurts. They are incredibly close and, for the most part, get along great. They have each taught me many lessons about myself and about life.  My youngest, age 2, is allergic to sleep, but thankfully keeps us laughing so it hasn’t been totally awful. My oldest, age 5, is an old soul.  He’s incredibly receptive to other’s feelings and absorbs knowledge like a sponge.

I have been a stay at home mom since 2014.  It’s been a journey and hasn’t always been pretty, but I am exactly where I’m supposed to be.  I’m 33, a Pisces, an Enneagram Type 5, and an ISFJ-T (The Defender). I have always LOVED Mexican food. Being pregnant with number 3, I’m slightly obsessed. Hubs would be happy to not eat another taco for a year.

I was not an athlete growing up, but exercise has been a big part of my adulthood, more so as a Mama.  Running and yoga have both offered a beautiful balance to my life.  Last year I also gained an appreciation for shorter HIIT workouts because I can fit those in while the kids are playing.

I love the Farmers Market and eating my way through the local fare from spring lettuces to fall squash. My husband thinks I have a strange taste in music.  Currently, my most played Pandora stations are The Jonas Brothers (fun), Beastie Boys (pump up), or The Dirty Heads (relax). I’m an avid reader of Thriller and Crime novels. Where my Karen Slaughter fans at? Although, in the last year I’ve also branched into self-development books.  I don’t care for the Office (blasphemy, I know).  I love Modern Family, Orange is the New Black, Game of Thrones, The Real Housewives of Orange County, and Law and Order SVU. I am a loyal friend and believe that honesty is always the best policy. I do my best not to judge others harshly because I truly believe we are all trying our best.

Most importantly, I’m a reforming perfectionist and learning to go with the flow.
